Some Insights

Jewish Marriage

Your parents made the bargain.

The Betrothal (engagement) was as binding as marriage.

The public display was a march through the streets.

Seven days of festivities with crowds, no secluded honeymoon

The toastmaster/ host was not the groom.

To run short of anything was a social disaster.

Christian Marriage

2 Corinthians 6:14

Consultation before your marriage.

With Jesus

With parents

With potential spouse

With spiritual adviser

Honour the fifth commandment - Exodus 20:12

Ask for your church family's involvement.

Observe decency at the wedding feast.

Focus on Jesus' presence from the beginning.

Words On Wine

Oinos (oinos) used of:

The grape

Grape paste

Grape juice

Fermented wine

" good " ( taste not potency )

Remember: This sign was shown to stimulate belief not provoke an argument.

Mother/Father Nature - Hebrews 1:1-3

God created everything and sustains everything by the word of His power.

The everyday way that God usually works.

Miracle - God working in an unusual manner.

Miracle Classifications:

Signs: Ordinary made special ( you shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manager )

Wonders: Events or doings that produce amazement but might have some other explanation..

( Some have tried to explain this wonder by saying that there must have been some grape residue in the jars - Must have been strong residue to make good wine out of thirty gallons don't you think? )

Miracle: Supernatural production, the only explanation.

And many other signs did Jesus in the presence of His disciples which are not written in this book; but these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life in His name. John 20:30,31

Why would Jesus bother with such a small problem as this one?

Could it be that between Jesus and us, there is no such thing as a small problem?

Jesus has time for individuals.

He didn't die for faceless masses but for individuals lost in sin.

What did Jesus' say to Zaccheus? " Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham." ( Say what? A Tax collector & a sinner? ) The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. " Luke 19:10

Jesus directed the unspiritual and unwashed masses to God and spiritual pursuits.

Jesus discipled his followers in each setting that they found themselves.

The purpose of this wonder is? That you might believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God and believing you might have life in His name.

Who was this wonder really for? The apostles - 2:11

Who was blessed? Everybody around.

His Mother.

The Steward.

The Groom.

The Bride

The servants.

The crowd.

The Apostles.

... and now us.

How does He bless us this day?

In Homes Where Jesus Is Allowed:

I. He Sanctifies Our Joys - John 2:1,2

II. He Shares Our Cares - John 2:3

III. He Supplies Our Needs - John 2:4-10

IV. He Strengthens Our Faith - John 2:11

Making room for Jesus will energize your life ... enrich your marriage ...enhance your home ... bring enjoyment to your job ( A Christian works for God no matter where they are employed )... enlighten and save your soul and hopefully, electrify your neighbors as you demonstrate to them how Jesus changes lives..

Drink a sip of H2Oh. How did that taste? I drank it. You would need to have tasted it for yourself.

Once you've tasted of the heavenly gift you will want no other.

Come drink of the water of life freely.

Jesus is a well that springs up with eternal life?

Want a drink? If you believe and have decided to give all to Him, You may step forward and pledge your allegiance to Him by confessing Him as Savior and burying the old you in the water grave and come forth to drink deeply of life reborn, reenergized with Power from His Spirit..

It is no small thing to be loved by the God of the second chance. Wm. Willimon.
